It’s a wrap! Season 4 of the podcast is coming to an end just in time for the SchoolCEO Conference this week—Sept. 24th & 25th. I hope to see you all there.
In the meantime, thank you so much for letting me learn and share from SchoolCEO’s amazing back catalog of content this season. Together, we’ve analyzed school communications departments’ strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats—and we’ve heard stories from school districts across the country that demonstrate how to turn some of those weaknesses and threats into strengths and opportunities. We’ve also outlined the most important considerations for creating an effective longterm communication plan. And all along the way we’ve shared powerful insights from SchoolCEO’s original research studies to help you do your best work. I have included links to some of the research I’ve referenced throughout the season, including What Parents Want from School Communications and A Seat at the Table on the working relationship between school communicators and school and district staff, which also offers some insights on how school communicators spend their time.
We’ve heard encore episodes with some of our favorite guests from previous seasons including some of our SchoolCEO Conference keynote speakers, Derek W. Black and just last episode, William D. Parker. And finally, we talked about why and how you should make streamlined digital two-way communication a part of your strategy for keeping families happy and engaged.
Speaking of two-way, we want to hear from you! We did things differently this season—diverging from the one-on-one interviews of past seasons to deliver you bite-sized chunks of our best content—peppered here and there with encore episodes featuring some of our favorite guests. What do you think? Do you like getting straight to the point with short episodes or do you miss those in-depth discussions we did in previous seasons? Are there any particular topics or particular people you want to hear more about? Tell us! We want to design our next season with you in mind. Email me at eileen@schoolceo.com. Although I’ll answer to Ellen, Elaine or Irene in person, gmail won’t. So just in case you don’t know how to spell Eileen, there’s a link to my email address in the show notes. Or if it’s easier to remember, send your comments to editor@schoolceo.com!
Finally, if you have a cool story you want to share about your district—and I know you all have a lot of cool stories to share, you can schedule a one-on-one call with me to chat about it! Or just about anything else you’re interested in. Any Love is Blind fans out there?
Look, SchoolCEO Magazine is always looking for great content and our mission is to celebrate the successes of school leaders and school communicators like you. So don’t be afraid to schedule a call and tell us a little bit about yourself and your district. Getting to jump on a Zoom call and actually talk to you guys is my favorite part of the job. There’s a link to my Calendly in the show notes—just click on it to schedule a time that works for you.
Until next season, thanks for joining me.
